Literature Text

Fussybudget,that was me.
Too young to talk or walk.
My cry alone my only voice.

At one - a divorce.
Saved from remembering.
A child so small soon forgets.

Marriage, at five.
Now mother and "father" -
A family complete.

Seven, a horrible age to remember.
Bits of life made of nightmares.
In despair, I find I was not the first.
Best friends no longer and never again.

With eleven, another divorce.
A "father" too eager to forget and ignore.

I try to leave behind all the wrong, all the blame.
Time passes and memories fade.
Nightmares find a spotlight and grow brighter.

Fussybudget, not so small now, cries alone.
Plagued by the whys and wishes.
Each day a struggle with the world and myself.
How about we keep this our secret?
100 Themes Challenge 48: Childhood [link]

This is a pretty personal and painful piece to let everyone see. I had a hard time getting this one done. Childhood was a hard topic to write about for me.
For those wondering about the name, Fussybudget is a nickname given to me when I was little by my birth father. I have a letter he wrote when I was a baby and that's what he called me in it. It just kind of stuck with me.
