Literature Text

My tears threaten to carve a path across my cheeks.
I can feel the tightness in my chest begin.
Just in the nick of time, you save me.
The scent of the perfume from you lingers.
Before the tears comes a smile.
Someone special, far away, cares.

A horrible friend wrapped in my own misery... that's me.
So much time given to my darkness, I neglect you.
My friend, are you warm in the light?
Do you need a shoulder, an ear, or someone to listen?

The tears are blurring my vision.
My earring, cold against my neck, halts them for a minute.
That is you again, helping without being here.
These tiny, precious earrings remind me someone is there.

I'm whispering these words to you my friend.
How thankful I am to have met such a special soul.
In all my darkness there is a shining light.
I am forever grateful that light is you.
I am lucky enough to have met a very special, precious friend here on DA. This is a small thank you to him for all the times he's helped me without knowing it. :icontwent47blue:

What a touching poem, and definitely relateable! Friends make all the difference in dark times.
